POKEMON RED/BLUE/GREEN
A young boy born in Pallet Town, Tobias's journey started like most children -- when he turned ten, he was sent off to Professor Oak's to claim his first Pokemon. Though originally attempting to head out on his own to find the seemingly missing professor (incredibly dangerous with no Pokemon), he was quickly stopped by said Professor, heading to the lab to snatch his starter along with his rival Tyson. After a quick battle between them (during which the Charmander seemed to warm up to its trainer quickly) the young boy set off for his Pokemon journey.
Along the way, he caught and trained what became his sole team - the Charmander he had started with, a Pidgey, an Ekans, and even a Weedle. Sometime later in the journey, this evolved team was joined by an Abra and a Vaporeon.
Throughout his traveling, Tobias often ended up on the opposite side of the notorious Team Rocket. Taking it on himself to take out this team, he actively started looking out for them after an issue in their "hidden" base in the Celadon Game Corner. His meddling ended up stopping them at almost every turn, including rescuing Mr. Fuji from Lavender's tower and saving a few others from them. Miraculously, he even manged to retake Saffron from them and defeat the leader Giovanni. Though he had thought that had done it, Tobias was shocked to find out that Giovanni himself was the leader of the final Gym. Never the less, he won against the criminal mastermind one more time, causing the man to admit defeat and agree to disband Team Rocket.
With that out of the way, Tobias was free to move on to Victory Road, struggling through for the honor of challenging the Elite Four. While he had to train long and hard, he eventually stepped up, beating down each and every one of them, up to and including Tyson himself. Now the Champion, the young boy was free to move on, and eventually ended up catching every single Pokemon, even down to the Legendary one thought to only be stories - Mew.
However, as it turns out, and as he would soon learn... that wasn't the end of it. Though he didn't know it, Tobias was, at this point, just a piece of data in a game. He went through four full complete cycles of Pokemon Red from start to finish. Each time he thought he slept, the "game" ended up "saving" itself, something that would come to haunt him as he began to learn about his abilities. Though only data through those four cycles and the start of the fifth, it was his first conscious act, the first glitch that he discovered on his own, that separated his world from the game's world, shattering the connection and becoming its own universe entirely.
The fifth cycle, his "current" one, was where things began to get strange and weird to him. One morning, on waking up and stepping outside just like before, his mind began to wander. Rather than go straight up to the grass as he did every time before, he took a look around. His attention was finally drawn to the left "wall" of the town, the boy finding himself curious about what was on the other side of the fence. He climbed over, stepping a few feet into the grass....
And his vision completely warped, turning into bars and strange static.
What felt like just a second later, Tobias shot straight up in bed, finding himself safe at home, but with the memory fresh in his mind.
When he went downstairs, his mother acted exactly like she had the day before, pushing him outside. Terrified, but immensely curious, he started looking around again, finally climbing over the south fence and dropping into the grass. After walking around for a bit, he was ambushed by a Pokemon -- however, out of nowhere, a Pokeball materialized on his belt, letting out some sort of strange monster made up of the same bars and static he had seen earlier before passing out. For some reason, Tobias found himself only able to watch in utter confusion, until he finally passed out once more with the screech ringing in his ears.
He woke in bed again.
Refusing to let this go, he went north, but instead of going into the grass, climbed up on the fence. To his surprise, Oak came... and proceed to walk over roofs and fade through the buildings, going past the fence and all the way out of sight, only to appear on the other side of the fence, continuing on in this bizarre pattern until he finally got to Tobias. At that point, Tobias discovered with horror that his body was moving on its own, and finally ended up stuck against a building. After waiting a few hours, and with no other idea, he smashed his head against the wall until he managed to force himself to pass out.
And was, once more, awoken in bed.
Suitably scared, he simply went on with the strangely familiar-feeling routine, taking Charmander from Professor Oak and continuing on his journey to earn the badges and catch everything he could. Besides a strange invisible tree on Route 14 (which took a minute to cut down), everything seemed normal.
And then things started going weird again. After flying away from a battle, unwilling to fight at that moment, he returned to Route 6, and found himself hearing a woman's voice and being challenged to a battle by a female that literally appeared right out of thin air. After winning, he found himself utterly sluggish, barely able to move. He left the route as quickly as he could until his body caught back up, and tried to put it out of his mind.
It became hard, however, as things got worse. While minding his own business (and after once again skipping out from a few battles), Tobias found himself challenged by all strange manner of people -- one of which was a horrible, terrifying person calling itself "JACRED." This "JACRED" seemed to be entirely made up of static and made Tobias sick to his stomach the moment he saw it. He quickly passed out, waking up at the Pokemon Center, once more completely shaken up. None the less, he continued on, despite his misgivings and the fact that no one else seemed to notice these strange occurances.
To his horror, it wasn't long after that when he encountered what appeared to be himself, only with strange, warped Pokemon. His doppleganger was easy to run from, but he remained shaken up for weeks afterwards.
In an attempt to calm himself down, he decided to go catching at the Safari Zone. During one such game, however, he fell asleep, waking up with a start and rushing out, barely hearing the man ask if he wanted to play a Safari Game. After returning home and just taking a breather swimming in Route 20, he found himself suddenly back at the Safari Zone, being kicked out of the door. Confused, he left again, and was horrified to see that the "city" he was in was seemingly corrupted, with what appeared to be ground, water, fences, and nearly everything else everywhere, thrown around like some kind of horrible upended toy chest. The boy spent an hour running around, screaming and desperately trying to get out, before he finally managed to fumble his Pidgeot out to fly him to safety.
After beating the Elite Four and simply laying low to recover, Tobias was perked by a strange rumor going around about a super powerful yet super dangerous Pokemon. Hoping that it was somewhat related to everything he had been seeing and could actually give him answers, the trainer quickly sought it out. According to the rumors, it would appear only if you spoke with a few people, then surfed at the edge of Cinnabar. Making sure to do exactly what was said, Tobias soon encountered what would become the most prominent figure of his nightmares.
At first, the thing seemed some sort of ghost. But as he battled it, it changed -- first into a Kabutops skeleton, then into another skeleton, this one of Aerodactyl. Though he was terrified, he was convinced this thing was the cause of all the trouble. Its final transformation, however, was not so easily taken -- another hodgepodge of pixels, this one with some sort of weird noises. Locked into place, Tobias's Pokemon attacked on its own, snapping the trainer out of it as something began to happen to his precious friend, causing it to scream out. Without thinking, he reached over to try to grab it...
...and pulled back from severe, blinding pain only to find his hand gone, replaced with the very glitches the thing was made of. Unable to take it, he screamed, rushing back onto shore and grabbing the first person he could find for help; this resulted in him watching, horrified, as his very touch began deleting the man's arm. Letting go, he tried frantically to explain himself and find something, but only ended up deleting and corrupting more and more things until he eventually found himself attacked by the entire island, only barely managing to escape when a Charizard not his hauled him away to safety.
He awoke sometime later, only to find that all of his Pokeballs were gone, save one. However, the ball was strange: the top of it looked like a mix of a Great Ball, an Ultra Ball, a normal Pokeball, and the Master Ball he used to have (which had suspiciously gone missing as well). Opening it revealed a Charizard, seemingly normal, with the exception of a horribly chilling cry. Though he made himself pass out again and again, hoping to reverse the affects like it had happened so many times before, he found that no matter how many times he tried, nothing would change...
Months later, Tobias was worn down, having been trying to find any sort of help for his hand, and being shunned at each turn as his inability to control the power that even slightly applied caused continuous harm and destruction. At one point, he had even attempted to get help from his rival Tyson -- but Tyson, misunderstanding, attempted to drive him off with his own Charizard. This resulted in Tobias, confused, accidentally being burned severely by the Pokemon before running off.
While hiding in a cave, a strange figure came to him in a robe, offering him a bracelet with words that Tobias only dreamed he would hear: if he would wear it, the powers would go away. He quickly pulled it on and found out that, as suspicious as the person was, it was true -- with the bracelet on, his hand was normal. With the bracelet, he was able to finally come back into public -- while people were still suspicious, the bracelet had removed all trace of the strange hand and the corruption, leading most to believe he had been cured.
This was quickly smashed a short time later, however, when the bracelet came off accidentally in the middle of Cerulean, causing a severe panic. With nowhere else to go and unwilling to stay around to be attacked, he fled across the water to the nearby cave, hiding himself there with a Pikachu that had followed him. By the time Lance arrived (having been tipped off by the commotion), Tobias -- having been unable and unwilling to come out even for food -- was thin, and would obviously not last much longer. Though Lance's intentions were pure, the abuse Tobias suffered had him sceptical and unwilling to cooperate. With little other choice to help him, Lance attempted to take him by force. Unfortunately, the Elite 4 leader unknowingly pulled the bracelet off in the middle of the fight, which meant the glitched hand was in full effect when Tobias shoved against Lance's head to escape. Even though he quickly let go, it was no use -- the boy could only sit and stare as Lance screamed in agony, his body slowly deleting itself until there was nothing left. In the last moments of having most of his body, Lance used all of his strength to embrace Tobias, to assure the small boy that his death was not his fault. This last bit of kindness, the first shown to him in far too long, caused the last grip of sanity he had to be broken, his mind shattering.
After that, Tobais hid as much as he could, only coming out to steal whatever he needed to live off of, broken and unstable for years...
